Manus is an autonomous AI agent developed by Monica, a Chinese AI company, that attracted widespread attention in early 2025 by demonstrating the ability to complete complex, multi-step tasks end-to-end. While most AI assistants answer questions or generate text, Manus completes work. You assign a task, and Manus plans it, executes each step in sequence, and returns a finished artifact, such as a research report, a working codebase, or a completed spreadsheet, rather than instructions for how to do it yourself.
