Wispr Flow is built around a deceptively simple idea: talking is faster than typing. The average person types around 45 words per minute; with Wispr Flow, you can dictate at up to 220 words per minute — a 4x speed improvement that compounds over the course of a workday.

Unlike older voice-to-text tools that just transcribe your words verbatim, Wispr Flow applies AI processing to clean up the output. Rambling sentences are restructured. Filler words ("um," "like," "you know") are stripped out. The tool also adjusts tone based on where you are — a dictated Slack message comes out casual, while a Gmail draft to a client lands more formally. This context-awareness is what separates Wispr Flow from basic transcription.

The tool is deeply cross-platform. It installs as a system-level application on Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows, iPhone, and Android, and works inside over 40 applications without any browser extension or plugin. That means VS Code, Gmail, Notion, Figma, ChatGPT, Slack, and virtually any text field you can click into. Dictate a code comment, then dictate a Slack update, then dictate an email — all from the same interface.

Personalization is layered in: Wispr Flow learns your personal vocabulary (uncommon names, technical jargon, internal acronyms), lets you save reusable snippets triggered by voice shortcuts, and supports over 100 languages with automatic detection. If you often switch between English and Spanish mid-sentence, it handles that.

Pricing is structured for broad access. The free Flow Basic plan covers 2,000 words per week — enough for occasional use. Flow Pro ($12/month annually) unlocks unlimited dictation and AI Command Mode, which lets you issue editing instructions by voice ("make this more formal," "summarize this paragraph"). Flow Teams ($10/user/month annually) adds shared dictionaries and centralized billing. Flow Enterprise adds SOC 2 Type II compliance and HIPAA readiness for healthcare and legal workplaces.

Wispr Flow was founded by Tanay Kothari and Sahaj Garg, and has raised $81 million to build what they describe as a Voice OS — infrastructure for voice-native computing, not just a dictation shortcut.
