TripIt is a travel organization app that automatically parses confirmation emails into a structured itinerary. It's designed for frequent travelers who accumulate bookings across multiple airlines, hotel chains, and services — and need them consolidated in one place.

## Email Parsing

The core feature is inbox-to-itinerary automation. Forward any booking confirmation email to plans@tripit.com, and TripIt extracts the reservation details: flight number, departure time, terminal gate, hotel address, check-in/check-out time, car rental details, and restaurant reservations. These appear as items in a chronological trip timeline.

Many users connect TripIt directly to their Gmail or Outlook so confirmations are parsed automatically, with no forwarding required.

## Master Itinerary

All bookings for a trip consolidate into a single, offline-accessible itinerary. The itinerary shows your entire trip from departure to return: flight connections, hotel addresses, rental car pickup locations, and any activities or restaurants you've added manually.

## Travel Alerts (Pro)

TripIt Pro adds real-time flight alerts: gate changes, delays, cancellations, and better seat alerts. It also checks alternative routing options if your flight is disrupted and provides the travel policy for your company (for business travelers).

## Sharing

Share your itinerary with travel companions, family, or colleagues. Shared itineraries update in real time as booking details change.
