About
Google DeepMind's flagship AI video generation model that creates short cinematic clips with native synchronized audio (dialogue, sound effects, ambient sound) from text or image prompts, in resolutions up to 4K.
In-Depth Review
Veo 3.1 (formerly Veo 2) is Google DeepMind's current flagship video generation model, originally released in October 2025 and updated in January 2026 with native 4K resolution, native vertical (9:16) video generation, and improved character/subject consistency across scenes.
Veo 3.1 generates 8-second video clips from text prompts, still images, or reference clips; clips can be extended further using Google Flow. Unlike earlier Veo generations, it produces native synchronized audio in the same generation pass — dialogue, sound effects, and ambient noise — rather than silent video that needs a separate audio pass. It ships with SynthID watermarking and C2PA content-provenance metadata to mark AI-generated video.
Veo 3.1 is accessible through the Gemini app, Google Flow (Google's AI filmmaking tool), Google Vids, Google AI Studio, and the Gemini API for developers.
Pricing
Video generation is not included on Google's free Gemini tier. Google AI Plus ($4.99/month) unlocks video generation with 200 Google Flow credits/month. Google AI Pro ($19.99/month) raises this to 1,000 Flow credits and unlocks Gemini's top reasoning model alongside Veo. Google AI Ultra ($99.99–$199.99/month) carries the largest Veo 3.1 allotments (10,000–25,000 Flow credits) at full 1080p/4K quality with native audio.
